Returning to the True Homeland with Loyalty Until the End

In Memory of Urip Lakasana DKP (1969 – 2024)

Throughout his life's journey within the DIAZ organization, Urip Lakasana DKP was always known as a figure with a strong character. This was evident from his physical features—a small, handsome face and a nimble gait as if he were running lightly. From this appearance alone, people could see his nature: composed, straightforward, firm, and full of agility.

Urip joined the nature-loving organization DIAZ in 1990 with membership number D.13959.EJ and completed his education up to high school level at Muhammadiyah 7, Sumbersari Street, Malang City. In his family life, he had a wife and three children, and lived for many years on Sumbersari Street. His final days came when he passed away on Rampal Street after fighting illness for two years.

From the moment he joined, Urip was known as a disciplined DIAZ member who always participated with full enthusiasm in every organizational activity. Through his involvement, his character, mentality, and personality were shaped by many important values he gained from DIAZ: humility, resilience in survival, the spirit of creativity, and the meaning of sharing with others. From there he grew into a mentally mature individual, becoming one of the best cadres the DIAZ organization possessed. He devoted almost half his life to serving this organization.

Throughout his long organizational journey, he was trusted to serve as secretary, and then as Chairman of DIAZ during the 1993 period. During his leadership, he ran the organizational machinery with a full sense of responsibility and successfully brought progress to DIAZ in his time. Even when various difficult problems came to test the organization, he remained steadfast and consistent, never stopping in his efforts to find the best solutions.

His dedication was truly immeasurable. Until reaching the age of 56, in the final days of his life when illness began to weaken his body, he still made time to participate in DIAZ activities. His steadfastness and struggle were carried out amid limitations of wealth and physical ability due to his illness. His last job as an online motorcycle taxi driver became a simple livelihood to meet his family's needs.

From his wide network of friendships with colleagues in government circles, political parties, and the business world, Urip successfully opened many opportunities for DIAZ. He worked to strengthen the organization's existence, and even once submitted a proposal so that the organization received government assistance through the JASMAS program. Thanks to this assistance, the organizational machinery has continued to run well until now.

As a nature explorer, Urip had his own perspective: true wealth is not material possessions that can be stored, but loyalty and dedication. He struggled so that DIAZ would grow into an organization that is good, healthy, and beneficial to many people—a spirit the same as his spirit in preserving nature and developing members into empowered individuals.

With a sincere heart he served the organization, never hesitant to be present in various activities both within and outside the DIAZ environment. Together with his colleagues he went through many nature journeys: mountain climbing, forest exploration, and environmental conservation work and participated in SAR in the greater Malang area. In between these journeys, he always shared values of brotherhood which he then brought to every organizational activity. For him, preserving nature, maintaining togetherness, and organizing were three things that were interconnected, inseparable from one another.

On Tuesday afternoon, that finest son of DIAZ was called home by the Almighty Protector and Sustainer. Almost half his life he had poured into DIAZ. The legacy he left behind is the values of dedication, loyalty, a caring attitude toward others, creative ideas and thoughts, and the spirit of sacrifice.

Now he returns to his true homeland, toward eternity, with a loyalty that endured to the end. His footsteps will remain alive in the memory of every DIAZ member and all friends who ever knew him.

Farewell, Mas Urip. Thank you for all your service.
